The 'Krupp Era'

The 1960s saw the name 'Bochumer Verein' disappear through the integration of individual works and facilities into the Krupp Group. One traditional enterprise thus amalgamated with another.

Chronology 1965-1985

  • 1965
    Merger between Bochumer Verein and Hütten- und Bergwerke Rheinhausen AG, Duisburg-Rheinhausen to become Fried. Krupp Hüttenwerke AG, headquartered in Bochum
  • 1974
    25.4% participation by Iran in the equity capital of Fried. Krupp Hüttenwerke AG
  • 1980
    Concentration of all marketing and trading of ordinary low-carbon and quality steels by the Krupp Group within the EC at subsidiary company Krupp Stahl Vertriebsgesellschaft mbH, Bochum; takeover of Krupp Metall- und Schmiedewerke, Essen by Fried. Krupp GmbH and integration of this business within the Forging and Machining Division, Bochum, to form one corporate unit.
    Change of company name from Fried. Krupp Hüttenwerke AG to Krupp Stahl AG
    Construction of a new continuous casting plant
  • 1981
    Construction of a new precision rolling mill for tyres and rings
  • 1984
    The Forging and Machining Division is amalgamated with Klöckner's forging activities to form Schmiedewerke Krupp Klöckner GmbH (SKK), headquartered in Bochum
