The most successful wheel concept for local public transport

BVV wheels with element shock absorber define the worldwide standard for resilient wheels on the normal route. They are safe, comfortable and gentle on vehicles, travel routes and adjacent buildings. Mileage and operating toughness are extremely high, the service is exemplary. Accordingly, customer satisfaction and worldwide acceptance are correspondingly high. The design principle, in which specially fitted rubber elements decouple the wheel tyre from the wheel rim and spring the construction, has been identical for all our normal-suspension wheels since Bo 54, the prototype of the globally successful resilient Bochum wheels. The three-part design with wheel rim ring is a further development especially for simplest mounting and servicing.

The design principle

Easily by specially hardened steels Use of high strength special steels for wheel body and wheel rims. Design and materi-als are designed for longevity and weight reduction

Simple assembly During assembly of the rim ring, the rubber elements are simultaneously brought into their installation position by means of simple workshop equipment. In the end position, the rim ring is fixed by means of a press connection and the construction principle of the screw-less wheel is retained as with the two-part BVV wheels with element suspension

Non-rotating rubber elements – Individually designed rubber elements with special long-life rubber compound for max-imum durability over the entire service life – Non-rotating due to high primary stress and tailor-made cut

Selection of previously manufactured wheel types

Bo 84, Bo 2000, Bo 06

In these types of wheels, a wheel rim ring – frictionally connected to the rim by a tapered press-fit joint – ensures that the rubber elements are seated securely against rotation. The particular advantage of this design is the simplified assembly/disassembly of the wheel tyres, for example directly on the vehicle to reduce maintenance costs.

Additionally, the screws serve only as an additional securing element. The transmission of the service stresses is carried out by the conical press-fit joint.

Wheels which are fundamentally the same type differ mainly in terms of load capacity and the different spring stiffness.

Each track and carriage format poses different challenges to wheels and wheelsets. Therefore, the wheel types shown are not a standard offer to which you need to adapt, but specimens that you can individually design together with us and expand even further.
